Google Doodle
It was 70 years ago today...
On June 1st 2017, one of the most influential albums of all time celebrated its 50th anniversary; Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. An album by the Beatles, this record is still discussed and debated amongst musicians today.
After finishing a stressful world tour, the Beatles fled back to the studio. Sgt. Pepper was what came out of that endeavor. The album itself is probably not anyones favorite Beatle's album, but at the time of the albums release and with hits like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "A Day in the Life". It earned it's place in history.
When I was originally picking an event for my Google Doodle I knew I wanted to do something related to music. As a Bealtes fan I was excited to hear the 50th anniversary for this album was coming up at the time of the project. I took a lot of inspiration from the iconic album cover, the flowers, ferns, and of course the drum. I including the colors and style of the jackets was important to me, because the outfits are so iconic and have encouraged other musicians to dress up in the same way or create alter egos. Over all I had a lot of fun delving into the history of this album and showcasing the main points of it's visual icons.
